Design that makes a difference

Entertain Me

TV…the Tube…Telly…whatever you choose to call it – it seems to take a prominent place in most of our homes.  While the TV can be a window into the international news scene, an escape into a fantasy world, a portal to sports paradise it can also be a giant eye-sore.  I, personally, am not a big TV watcher.  In fact if it were up to me, I wouldn’t own a television at all.  However, I do realize that a TV-free home is quite the rarity.  SO…as one seeking to create a more lovely environment in which to live, love, and grow I am faced with the challenge of dealing with this giant black contraption.  Throughout the years I have seen many different ways to cover up, disguise, and hide these boxes.  Each space where a TV makes it’s home has different requirements for equipment, space, and storage…so each one truly needs to be addressed as an individual.  That being said – here are a few of my recent favorite entertainment spaces that create beauty as much as function:

Since barn doors are all the rage these days - it seems appropriate to corral your electronic beast behind some!

An airy alternative to the bulky "entertainment center" - floating shelves, clever storage, and beauty beyond 'the box'.

Framing out your TV can give it a much more sophistocated feel than leaving it bare against the wall.

And when in doubt - camoflauge your TV with art!

However you choose to approach your entertainment – always keep in mind that the most important part of entertainment is who you’re with.  If your space focuses solely on “the tube” – you may be missing out on the most wonderful elements of your space – your loved ones.
